  Automotive Dept. Review: I took my wife's vehicle to Walmart in Avon after the battery low voltage light came on since they offer free testing. It was close to closing time, so I get it, people want to go home, but we were totally ripped off. The tech "tested" the battery on my wife's car while he was spitting out chewing tobacco, and said it needed to be replaced - so that is what we did and it cost $113. He also claimed he tested the alternator which he said was fine. A week later (today), her vehicle died on the side of the road in -5 degree temps. Even though it was cold, this should not happen with a brand new battery and a supposedly functioning alternator. Luckily I was close by to jump the battery and rush it over to a shop nearby probably to have the alternator replaced. Go to O'Reilly, Autozone, Advanced Auto, etc or a shop to have your vehicle properly tested and not get ripped off into buying a brand new battery. I don't even think these guys get a commission, so I don't get what his angle was. Had I not been around to get to my wife and her car, she would have been stranded in the cold.
